A spoof on the inner lives of bourgeois Parisians, this is one of three Labrune films presented this year in Cinéfranco (also see Keep Talking! And Tomorrow’s Another Day). Fifteen years after their last encounter, an orchestra director (Richard Debuisne) sends Catherine (Sandrine Kiberlain) a bouquet of flowers as an apology for calling her too early one morning. In another part of town, Catherine’s husband (Jean-Pierre Darroussin) is fired. The two events together spiral out of control to involve nosy neighbours (Maurice Bénichou and Hélène Lapiower), Raphaël co-worker (Dominique Blanc), a playwright (Jean-Claude Brialy), and his partner Laurent (Dominique Besnehard). There are lessons in geography, political correctness, and corporate politics amid the word play and comically absurd situations. The film pokes fun at the French obsession with intellectualism and is delightful fluff; until a touching ending reveals the human need to reach out that started it all.
