Romeo and Juliette (Rated 14A)

Original Title: Roméo et Juliette

Country of Origin: Quebec (Canada) (2005)
French with English Subtitles - 105 minutes
Genre: Drama - Romance
Distributor: Alliance Atlantis

Directed by Yves Desgagnés

Starring   Thomas Lalonde, Charlotte Aubin, Jeanne Moreau, Patrice Bélanger, Pierre Curzi

Juliette Véronneau, 15, and Roméo Lamontagne, 17, are crazy in love in spite of their radically different education and social class. Juliette’s father, a judge of the Québec Superior Court, stands in contrast to Roméo’s father, notorious criminal Réal Lamontagne, who is accused of child murder in a media trial presided by Justice Véronneau.
Yves Desgagnés’s realistic and passionate vision of Montréal is a tribute to modern-day teens.
The neophyte actors lend the film genuine innocence while the narration by Jeanne Moreau (also playing Juliette’s grandmother) emphasizes the prevailing sensuality.
