English Canadian Premiere
In 1962, Grégoire Duval, respected provincial pharmacist, is chosen for jury duty in the trial of Khader Boualam, accused in the murder of his young mistress. His condemnation is pretty much assured, exacerbated by the ambient racism against Algerians. In fact, it is Grégoire Duval who unnoticeably strangled the victim. Bothered by the lack of rigor in the criminal investigation, Grégoire Duval tries to show that Khader Boualam is innocent. But he is upsetting the social order: will the truth triumph?
"Inspired by the original novel (...), depicting an almost likeable killer" (tele7.fr) is a mission accomplished, thanks to the brio of Jean-Pierre Darrousin.
