Having recently suffered through hardship, Mathieu and Chloé travel to their country house to mend their wounds and reconnect. But their peaceful retreat is soon disrupted by curious incidents that cause Chloé’s already fragile mental state to further deteriorate. As she becomes more and more convinced that a real danger lurks in the surroundings, her world drifts into nightmare while Mathieu feels he is powerlessly witnessing his wife’s descent into madness. Two realities clash, tensions and secrets resurface, a reckoning is inevitable in this psychological thriller where lies, delirium and truth intertwine.

— Guy A. Lepage, Tout le monde en parle

Magnified by the performances of Patrick Hivon and Laurence Leboeuf, often filmed in close-up, Mont Foster turns out to be one of the nicest surprises of the season.

— La Presse (translated from French)

A thrilling tale of great finesse…

— Le Devoir

Strange, beautiful, poetically murky, Mont Foster is a real success – current and  timeless, and using the filmic codes of space-time to let the characters sink into the quicksands of consciousness.

Patrick Hivon and Laurence Leboeuf excel in this perverse puzzle oscillating between reality, seduction, attraction and rejection.

— KinoCulture Montréal (translated from French)

A beautiful film.
