Sofia, a young French woman of Moroccan descent, lives in Dijon with her family. When she is seventeen, on vacation in Marrakech, she becomes infatuated with Salim, a Moroccan her age. Their respective mothers, too thrilled by this idyll, arrange for them to be married immediately. Salim and Sofia don't manage to "consummate" this marriage, which their mothers, for reasons they wish to keep hidden, want to safeguard at all cost. Troubles begin, as do the trips between Dijon and Marrakech.

With Ta mère! Touria Benzari delivers a comedy that turns Moroccan traditions upside down by applying the laws of vaudeville to its plot. (...)
The two young actors Sofia Manousha and Salim Kechiouche, already met in Jacques Bral's Le Noir te te va si bien, have a lot of charm.

— Maghreb des films (translated from French)

Based on a true story, this film deals with the daily life of young people from immigrant backgrounds, who are French above all, but have to cope with deeply rooted family traditions.

— France 3 Bourgogne Franche Comté (translated from French)

A look full of humour and humanity on "diversity", a social comedy where the ordinary meets the universal.
