Youth Festival - Cinéfranco 2024

From February 20 to March 10, 2024

Cinéfranco Youth Festival

Cinéfranco is proud to screen youth films that speak to children and teenagers. The themes are topical with stories of love, friendship, self-awareness, and one's abilities in adverse times.

Exceptional animated films (La Légende du papillon, Interdit aux chiens et aux Italiens, Ernest et Celestine-Le Voyage en Charabie), incredible adventures around the First World War (La Guerre des Lulus), the creativity of pre-teens in rural life (Coco Ferme), by the indigenous universe (Jules au pays d Asha) or that of Moroccan nomads (Zodi et Téhu frères du désert) offer captivating cinematic experiences.

In this bird's-eye view of the films on offer, the discussions generated by Seize ans for example or Mon chat et moi, la grande aventure de Rroû inspire interesting perspectives on social classes, discrimination, or the call of wild nature in animals.

This year we are so fortunate to be sponsored by Canadian Heritage, the Ontario Ministry of Education, Ontario Arts Council, Ontario Creates and UOF.

Thanks to their generous contribution, Cinéfranco has reduced the cost of tickets from $8 last year to $5 this year to help offset the increase in film screenings, Cineplex theatre rentals and all the services that come with a festival.

A nice surprise awaits the young audience! Co-director Jean-Christophe Roger of Ernest et Célestine-Le Voyage en Charabie will present his film in person!

Enjoy!

Dear teachers, dear parents

Cinéfranco jeunesse kicks off on February 20 with the screening of the beautiful film A Cat’s life. Thank you for your interest! 2 Cineplex Empress Walk movie theatres are waiting for students accompanied by adults for schools that have reserved their seats. On behalf of the entire Cinéfranco team, I would like to thank you for your enthusiasm and loyalty. We are in unison because learning the French language also means getting out of the classroom to enrich your cultural and linguistic knowledge and meet people. Cinema is a powerful communication tool that is both entertaining and didactic without being intimidating. Practical details: Cineplex Empress Walk offers group prizes for students who would like to purchase popcorn, candy, beverages, etc.

A HUGE THANK YOU TO THE VOLUNTEERS WHO ARE WORKING SO HARD TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR CHILDREN!

It is thanks to the honourable KAMAL KHERA, MINISTER OF DIVERSITY, INCLUSION AND PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES that Cinéfranco was able to select quality films and lower the price of admission tickets to $5 to benefit more students and raise their awareness of the themes of multiculturalism, racism, inclusion, and persons with disabilities.

INFINITE GRATITUDE TO  CANADIAN HERITAGE ONTARIO MINISTRY OF EDUCATION, ONTARIO ARTS COUNCIL  ONTARIO CREATES  UOF FOR THEIR FINANCIAL SUPPORT!
